Exeter Chiefs Gloucester
Wasp Bath
Three more contests provided a Gallagher Premiership Rugby feast on Saturday, including an important 24-15 victory for Exeter Chiefs over top four rivals Gloucester Rugby. Gloucester had been on a three-game winning run and George Skivington’s side hit the ground running when Freddie Clarke put the Cherry & Whites ahead with their first attack. Chiefs drew level through Jack Innard before Patrick Schickerling’s try early in the second half put the Devonians in front following a yellow card for Billy Twelvetrees. Further tries from Olly Woodburn and Tom O’Flaherty secured the bonus point for Chiefs and while Gloucester responded through Santiago Carreras and Charlie Chapman tries after a yellow card for Dafydd Jenkins, the hosts held on to move back into the top six.
Elsewhere on Saturday, Wasps moved up to fifth in the standings with an entertaining 41-24 victory over Bath Rugby in Coventry after the visitors played most of the second half with 14 men. Rob Miller opened the scoring for the hosts before Tom Prydie responded, with Taulupe Faletau also scoring on his return to action in between tries for Wasps’ Biyi Alo and Elliott Stooke. Bath trailed 17-14 at the break and soon lost Semesa Rokoduguni to a red card after the restart, only for Ben Spencer to put the Blue, Black and Whites into an unlikely lead. Yet Wasps responded with four tries as Alfie Barbeary and Paolo Odogwu both crossed twice in the final 11 minutes to secure a fourth successive league win for Lee Blackett’s side.
