Northampton Saints and Bath Rugby finished the Gallagher Premiership Rugby season on the exact same number of points, could barely be split all campaign, and will now play for the title at Twickenham. On a dramatic Play-Off weekend in which both sides were tested, the league’s top two survived to earn a long-awaited return to HQ. For Bath it has been nine years, for Saints a full decade. But even after being pushed hard by Saracens and Sale Sharks, it is hard to argue against the two sides who make up the finalists. Saints topped the table by virtue of one more victory than Bath, while their points difference was four better than the West Country side. Northampton scored six more tries, but Bath conceded six fewer. There really was very little between the two. This weekend we saw Saints show their mettle against Sarries on Friday night, before Bath resisted a Sale fightback to join them in the final.
