Well, what a game to start the women’s State of Origin series and to kick off Magic Round! A tightly fought first half gave way to NSW dominance in the second half and they just pulled all the string to keep the ball in their hands and in QLD’s half of the field. While their attack was extremely impressive, it was their defence that really won the game it is not easy keeping the Maroons’ spine of Upton, Aiken, Brigginshaw and Brown quiet. All four have an excellent kicking game, brilliant passing skills and the tactical nous to change a game at any moment. To neutralise all four is astounding, but the Blues managed it and at Suncorp Stadium no less!
