Bath claimed West Country bragging rights after they were crowned Premiership Cup champions with a 48-14 victory over Exeter at Sandy Park. The first of two tries from replacement hooker Tom Dunn in the 59th minute proved to be the decisive moment, propelling Bath 31-14 ahead and they never looked back. It was a crucial swing for the Gallagher Premiership leaders given that just 10 minutes earlier Exeter wing Paul Brown-Bampoe had seen a try disallowed for a foot in touch. The Chiefs' slender 17-14 interval lead never looked enough given they had the wind at their backs and so it proved in the seven-try mauling on home turf. Bath's loss came at a cost with Joe Cokanasiga limping off in the first half after receiving treatment for a knee injury. But Cokanasiga's setback failed to take the shine off winning their first trophy for seven years and first under director of rugby Johann van Graan. The Premiership Cup is a development competition and Bath will now turn their gaze to the more prestigious achievement of clinching the Premiership title.
